Although there is a new model for this netbook, a thorough search revealed no reviews and I couldn’t find a unit to test in an electronics store, so, I had to resort to tech pages to understand what the differences are. I will point them out as I go along.

The ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT netbook is the white version of the Eee PC 1001PX-EU27. It is also available in black color and is called ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-BK. The new model ASUS Eee PC 1001PXD-EU17-WT includes beside white and black colors, blue too. Both models come equipped with all the standard features, including: 250 GB hard drive, 0.3 meg web camera, 10.1 inch screen, and, about 4 hours battery life.

There are three things that set the 1001PXD apart from the 1001PX. The additional color choice I have mentioned and, the other two differences are the jump from the Atom N450 processor to the Atom N455, coupled with the jump from the DDR2 RAM to the DDR3 RAM. And this is where it gets interesting.

Although, as I mentioned, I was unable to find the new netbook to test, and, I also couldn’t find any online reviews, I did find lots of discussion about the processor and DDR in the tech news. And, while the DDR3 performs reading/writing twice as fast and needs the support of the N455 in order to do so, most of the tech news seems to recommend that you buy what you can afford. While having a fast speed is obviously nice, it certainly isn’t hitting the mainline news on the tech pages as a must have with this netbook.

The Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT comes loaded with the starter edition of Windows 7, and Skype. When all you need is something to write your term papers on, and, check your email, this is the perfect netbook for the job. For the person on the go, especially when that involves long haul traveling, the light weight, good sized screen and almost full size keyboard will let you get your work done and stay in touch with ease. Try as I might I couldn’t find any info about whether Skype comes pre-installed on the 1001PXD.

Overall, the ASUS 1001PX netbook does a fantastic job and is a great deal. For the price, it fits the budget of students, seniors, and those just wanting something light for traveling. One of the downsides is that there are only 2 USB ports so you will probably want to pick up a USB hub. I use an external hard drive for my backups and also a wireless mouse. I need a USB port for each. If I want to use my headphones – which … ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU27-WT 10.1 Inch Netbook Review

People who are regularly on the move may find the extremely small Toshiba Mini NB505-N508BL a good notebook to acquire. This particular notebook comes in at a mere 1.4 inches thick and weighs merely three pounds so that it is easy to store in your purse or bag. You don’t really need to charge it that often in a day considering that it provides an eight-hour battery life.

First things first: don’t let the word ‘mini’ fool you into thinking this is more compact than other netbooks. It isn’t. In fact, the HP Netbook Mini 110-3530NR is heavier than nearly all of the netbooks I have looked at, in some cases it’s almost one pound heavier. I am not telling you this to put off from choosing the HP netbook, it’s a great netbook and a very good deal based on its features. I just want to caution you that mini doesn’t mean that it is smaller and lighter.

With that out of the way, my immediate attention was drawn to the long battery life. As you know, this was high on my list of needs because I am always on the go. The battery life for this netbook is outstanding at almost 9 hours. You can work a whole day and not have to worry about finding an electrical outlet. If you are not working solidly all day, the battery could last you a couple of days before needing a charge. The HP Mini Netbook 110-3530NR will keep you going through most domestic flights, including check in times. Whether you have a movie to watch or some research to do, this battery will keep you up and running. With this nebook computer is easy to enjoy Free conference calls.

I truly don’t know why they called this netbook a mini – unless it was to liken it to a mini laptop. It comes equipped with the Atom N455 processor and also the DDR3; both of these together give you read/write speed that is twice as fast as other netbooks with the Atom N450 and the DDR2. Unfortunately it is impossible to upgrade these two features as they change the configuration for the pins on the connectors each time they upgrade. The only way to get the additional speed is to upgrade your netbook.

The addition of an anti-glare screen is a nice touch because, when travelling, you can’t guarantee what kind of light you will have – especially when you are traveling in sunny climates and trying to work on the beach.

There is lots of pre-loaded software on the HP Mini 110-3530 Netbook , normally I recommend deleting it as most people don’t need all the free trial software that is loaded. There is a huge amount of software pre-loaded, much more than other netbooks, so take your time. As an example, here are some of the many programs:

Symantec Norton Internet Security 2011 60-day Trial.
HP Power Manager.
HP Recovery Manager.
HP Cloud Drive.
Microsoft Office 2010 preloaded (purchase of a Product Key required to activate a full Office 2010 suite).
Microsoft Silverlight.
Bay.
Evernote.
Adobe Reader.
Snapfish.
Facebook.

Another cool piece of software is the preloaded HP sync software, so when you are ready to get back to your full sized computer, syncing your file takes only … HP Mini 110-3530NR Netbook Review

If you are big on HD viewing, the Aspire AO522-BZ897 might just be the netbook you have been waiting for. Complete with HD capability, this little unit also plugs in directly to home entertainment systems so you can watch on the big screen too. And when you need to move things quickly, the multi-function touch pad lets you zoom in and out, rotate, flip pages and images, and even scroll up and down – all with your fingertips.

Fully capable and ready for all your on-the-go needs, this netbook can also stream HD videos, and fulfill your emailing, web chatting, photo viewing, and anything else you want to do. And it’s very affordable! In fact, when it comes to its HD capabilities, the clear, crisp images are first class for such an incredible price.

The biggest problem with this netbook is the difficulty it takes to upgrade the RAM. Typically, all you do is remove a couple of screws underneath a netbook to access the RAM. Not so on the Acer 10.1-Inch HD Aspire One AO522-BZ897 Netbook. You have to remove the keyboard on this baby and, even for the seasoned tech repair person, that isn’t easy.

Having said that, many buyers provide detailed instructions on how to easily upgrade the memory without causing any damage. If you read the reviews on Amazon, and I would strongly suggest you do, you will notice how many tech people are buying this netbook. That, to me, tells me this is definitely worth the money, even with the fumbling to upgrade the RAM. Also, something to note, (but not recommended by Acer) the tech people who are buying this netbook at upgrading RAM not to 2 GB, but 4GB and reporting huge improvements.
Acer Aspire One AO522-BZ897 10.1 Inch HD Netbook Features and Specifications

Processor: 1 GHz AMD C-Series Processor and ATI Radeon HD Graphics.
Hard Drive: 250 GB.
RAM: 1 GB (including 256 MB Graphics RAM).
Web Camera: 1.3 meg.
USB Ports: 3.
Size: 7.28 inches x 10.17 inches x 1.01 inches.
Weight: 2.87 lbs.
Battery Life: 6 hours.

What Buyers Have Been Saying About Acer Aspire One AO522-BZ897 ?

Nice little netbook, flat keys, low speaker volume.
It is light, small, and the battery life is pretty good.
the thing that made the sale for us was the 1.3Mp webcam.
Netflix streaming video and a youtube video; both worked great.
biggest complaint are the flat faced keys.
preloaded Skype.
Netflix streams flawlessly (full-screen, even over my wireless connection). … Acer Aspire One AO522-BZ897 10.1 Inch HD Netbook Review

To the untrained eye there may not seem to be a lot of difference between netbooks and laptops, but despite their similarities there are some key factors which separate them.

The most obvious of these is size. The majority of netbooks on sale today have something close to a 10-inch screen, though other sizes are available.

Laptops on the other hand tend to have screens somewhere between 11 and 17 inches inclusive, so if a large display is important to you then laptops win out here.

But the compact size of netbooks does give them an advantage in the weight department. The typical netbook will tip the scales at just over 1kg, whereas a laptop will tend to be around double that.

Another key area in the netbook versus laptop battle is computing power and in a straight fight this is a clear win for the latter.

Netbooks tend to have slower processors and less memory than laptops, so it’s important to remember to bear this in mind when … Netbooks Or Laptops?

With the release of Windows 8 due next month, the race for a perfect tablet-laptop hybrid – usually called TabTops among tech enthusiasts – continues to forge ahead full-steam. Manufacturers like Lenovo, Toshiba, Dell and Samsung are aiming to fuel consumers’ imaginations with a number of different hardware innovations.

Windows 7-run hybrid designs haven’t had much success. Previous versions, such as the Dell Inspiron Duo, marketed in 2010 as ‘the new convertible’ tablet PC, did not review well. So, will Windows 8 be a game-changer? Let’s have a look at a select line up of new TabTops, each featuring a different design.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

The Yoga 13 will soon join the family of ultrabooks from Lenovo, capable of transforming from a slim, light ‘notebook’ to a supersized13in ‘tablet.’ This is done via a double-jointed hinge, which allows the screen to fold all the way back against the laptop’s rear. In tablet mode, the machine features an IPS panel, which allows wide viewing angles and supports Windows 8display features well. This machine is similar to the IdeaPad U300s in design – it issimple, economically priced, and extremely smart.

Toshiba Satellite U925t

Toshiba’s Satellite U925t has a sliding design: whencontracted it resembles a thick 12.5in tablet, butslide the screen up and it will reveal a full-size keyboard with a touch pad. Theoverall design is wellthoughtout. Even though there is extra length to the machine when the keyboard is extended, itmaintains its balancewithout toppling over. The touchscreen isalso well-built, and is adequately … Tabtops: The Next Big Thing?

The Toshiba NB505-N508 10.1 Inch Netbook comes in five colors; Blue, Brown, Orange, Green and Turquoise. Toshiba NB505-N508BN is the Brown version of this model. I will get straight to the number one selling point for me and tell you that the battery life lasts up to eight hours under normal conditions. When that is at least double what you can get from most netbooks, and significantly more than the laptop need to replace, it’s enough to place this netbook at the top of my list. It’s phenomenal and, as you will remember from my overview, having a long better life means that the NB505-N508BN has a six cell battery- and that’s a very good thing. .

What Toshiba has been able to do is put in a six cell battery but still keep the weight down. If you are using your netbook while you are in bed, or watching the TV, the weight probably isn’t important to you. However, once you start trying to pack up ad go, extra weight is just a hindrance. The Toshiba packs a punch yet is also still what would be called a very light netbook. Another thing in its favor!

The Intel Core Processor works just fine, and having the extra batter life is certainly makes a difference. However, with RAM being so affordable, I would upgrade to 2GB of RAM rather than stay with the installed 1GB. And if you don’t want to change out the RAM, you don’t need to. If you find that accessing programs, and, boot up time is too slow for you (and I am not saying it is slow but some people would find a Lear jet too slow for their needs), throw in another GB.

The Toshiba NB505-N508BN has a 10.1inch screen. It has great resolution and also comes with LED backlight. This makes everything much more crisps and clear. It would be remiss of me not to mention the full sized keyboard and the nifty touch pad. I like the small netbooks but I also like a full sized keyboard. This little baby give me exactly what I am looking for. The 21st Century touch pad is an added bonus. If you have ever marveled at the TV and movie technology that shows the lead actors pinching and expanding their fingers on a touch bad to zoom in and out on images displayed on a white board, have a go doing the same thing on your Toshiba netbook! I don’t know who comes up with these ideas but I am glad that they do.

The NB505-N508BN works great for watching videos and surfing, though lots of users also remark that they use it for heavy duty work and it performs perfectly. This netbook will not replace your desktop or laptop functionality – it isn’t meant to. This netbook is made for the traveler, the person on the go, the student, someone who doesn’t need the bells and whistles of a desktop or laptop, but still wants to get the job done.

As with many netbooks, the NB505-N508BN comes loaded with software that most users don’t need: Microsoft Office Starter 2010; Microsoft Silverlight; Microsoft Live Essentials; Norton Internet Security 2011 (30-day trial); Google Toolbar and Google … Toshiba NB505-N508BN 10.1 Inch Netbook Review

Although the Dell Mini is placed firmly in the light weight netbook range, at 5.1 lbs with the battery installed, it is heavier than some other netbooks. This extra weight will make a difference on long hauls.

The features of the Mini 1018 are pretty standard for a netbook: Windows 7 Starter pack, 0.3 meg Web camera, and 250 GB hard drive. Nothing spectacular to write home about, but certainly enough for email, video connections, and lots of word processing. You will find several pre installed trial versions of software and, if you don’t want to use them, just delete them and free up some hard drive space. Also bear in mind that you will have to download fixes if you want to change your background – the Windows 7 starter pack doesn’t allow you do this as it is configured.

This is a stylish, affordable, netbook that will do its job well. While some users have said that it performs well on heavy duty tasks, it is not made to serve that purpose so, don’t be surprised if it doesn’t. Keep this as your ‘get up and go’ companion when anything bigger would be too intrusive. For students, travelers, a home spare, or for watching movies in … Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 4034CLB Netbook Review

As notebook computers become more powerful, many users choose to replace their desktop units with one. Here’s a look at some of the highest performance notebooks on the market today — any one of these units wouldn’t look out of place as a desktop replacement.

One of the top contenders is the Samsung Series 7, which PC Magazine selected as one of its most extreme performance laptop machines in February. The slim, aluminium clad notebook comes with a blazing Intel Core i7 processor operating at 2.2 Ghz, an AMD Radeon HD6750M graphics processing unit, three-quarters of a terabyte of hard-disk storage plus 8GB of cache storage in a solid-state drive and an identical amount of RAM. There’s also a DVD drive thrown in for good measure.

The Samsung Series 7 offers nearly seven hours of battery life, based on a PC Magazine test. In the same test, it beat or tied with competitive models from HP, Toshiba, Dell and even Apple’s top of the line Macbook Pro in several tests of … Top 3 Powerful Notebooks
